Say hello to good buys -- Flipkart millionaires can go on a shopping spree

Radhika P Nair

It is celebration time for hundreds of current and former Flipsters — as Flipkart employees are called. The Walmart deal has brought a windfall for those who hold Flipkart employee stock options or ESOPs. Binny Bansal, Flipkart’s Co-founder and Group CEO, announced to employees on Wednesday that the company would go for a 100 percent buyback of vested shares.

When that happens, hundreds of Flipsters (including former employees) will become crorepatis. Of these, around 100 will be dollar millionaires, according to newspaper reports.

Flipkart’s ESOPs (including the unvested part) are worth a whopping $2 billion post the deal. So, what should Flipsters do with it? While, everyone in the startup ecosystem is hoping they go on to invest in and build startups, some splurging is surely on the cards.

Flipsters, while money cannot buy happiness, here is a list of some of the luxurious things it can.
